The 2020 Edition of Ogden City’s Engineering Standards For Public Improvements is available at the link below. Ogden City’s Engineering standards incorporate many aspects of the "2017 APWA manual of Standard Specifications and Plans". 3. How do I find buried utility information for Ogden City?

4. How do I find information regarding a Right-of-Way permit?

All work performed in the City right-of-way and all development projects require an engineering permit. In accordance with state laws, only a licensed contractor can pull the permit.

5. How do I know when I need to get an engineering Right-of-Way permit?

If you are a licensed contractor with any work that will need to be done in the city right-of-way (with the exception of hand digging sprinkler systems), you will need a permit. 

Work includes: 

• Sidewalk approaches 
• Curb and gutter 
• Sewer lines 
• Water lines 
• Utility work, i.e. cable, gas, power, and phone

6. How do I know if I can work in the city Right-of-Way?

Only licensed contractors who have the proper license type for work may do the work in the City right-of-way.

9. How do I determine the cost for an engineering permit?

Permit fees are calculated on the scope of work that is to be done. For an accurate calculation of permit fees for any work or project in the city Right-of-Way, please contact the Engineering Construction Coordinator at 801-629-8986. Permit Fees Page

10. Where is my property line?

Property lines are determined by subdivision of land into lots or parcels. Legal descriptions define the location of the property on the ground.
When a new subdivision is created, it will have metal bars with a cap (called a hub) that identifies the corners of lots. The surveyor hired by the developer of the subdivision establishes these physical points.
Older subdivisions may no longer have markers at the lot corners.
If there is a dispute between property owners, the only correct way to find the property line locations is by hiring a private surveyor to mark those corners.
