On June 17, 2019, KordUSA held a ribbon-cutting ceremony and open house to celebrate its new office and production test facility at Business Depot Ogden. Kord develops and produces technology that enables users to quickly and safely control multiple electronic devices without having to take their eyes or hands off task. Their new location in Ogden will contribute to Northern Utah’s robust and growing aerospace and defense industry, already home to companies including Northrop Grumman, Barnes Aerospace, and Williams International (more information on the industry is available here).
In attendance for the ribbon-cutting were Dr. Peter Moran, Kord’s Managing Director; Congressman Rob Bishop; Ogden Mayor Mike Caldwell; Alison Petchell of the Embassy of Australia; and the Ogden/Weber Chamber of Commerce Spikers Committee.
Kord’s new facility represents another win for Ogden’s economic and employment growth. At the ribbon-cutting, Dr. Moran explained why Kord decided to locate in Ogden.
“We had many different options as to where we could locate in Utah, but in the end the decision was a simple one,” he said. “From the very first introduction to Ogden it became clear that this was a special place, a place that was growing, had a vibrant and well-educated community, and had a clear focus on innovation.”
Ogden’s continued economic growth has also been demonstrated by recent announcements from Amer Sports, Oatly, Strata Fund Solutions, and England Logistics. These new expansions will further add to the estimated 1,200 jobs that businesses committed or created in Ogden in FY2018. Recent recruitment and expansion successes continue a decade-long pattern of significant business growth and job creation in Ogden.
