On Tuesday, March 15, 2016, the Ogden City Council will begin holding the majority of its work session meetings at 3:30 p.m., prior to its regularly scheduled City Council meetings which begin at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesdays. This change is being made to allow work sessions to begin at an earlier time and to make the start time for these meetings more finite. Some work session discussions may still be held after City Council meetings but this will occur much less frequently on an as-needed basis.
"Work sessions provide a valuable opportunity for discussion and dialogue before the City Council makes decisions that impact residents. These meetings have typically been held right after City Council meetings and have often extended as late as 10:00 p.m., which has made it more difficult for residents and city staff to attend,” Council Chair Marcia White said. “Adjusting to this earlier start time will help to reduce many of these late meetings and allow the public to know exactly when these meetings will begin."
The City Council will also be changing its meeting agendas to combine the information for multiple meetings into a comprehensive agenda and information packet. This will allow residents to access all of the meeting information for a single day in one convenient location.
