On Tuesday, November 20, 2018, the Ogden City Council adopted an ordinance to form a Natural Resources and Sustainability Stewardship Committee to advise the city on educational programs relative to sustainable environmental practices and responsible stewardship of local natural resources.
Anyone interested to serve on this committee is encouraged to submit an interest form for consideration. This can be done online by completing the form found online (https://bit.ly/2rD8rpk) or by completing a print version of the form and submitting it to the Ogden City Council Office by email or mail.
The committee will be comprised of 7-9 members with term commitments of 2-3 years. Residents, individuals in business and education and high school students throughout the city are encouraged to apply. Options for shorter terms will also be available to participating high school students.
“We are excited about the community interest that this committee has already generated and look forward to learning additional ways to help residents become more engaged in sustainability efforts,” said Council Member Marcia White, who led the creation of the committee.
The committee will advise the Council and Mayor regarding sustainability and natural resource stewardship and educational programs, including: waste reduction and recycling, power and water conservation, air quality and open space. The Committee will also be a resource as the city considers environmental policies and programs to become more sustainable.
