[ARCHIVED] City Council to consider Nine Rails Creative District Plan

Nine Rails

On Tuesday, August 14, the Ogden City Council is seeking public input as it considers approving the Nine Rails Creative District Plan, which will generally guide the development of 24th Street to 26th Street from Madison to Grant Avenue over the next several years.

The goal of the Creative District is to have an epicenter for art and culture that provides opportunities for the creative community to live, develop, share, and teach their diverse skills for the benefit of Ogden’s artists, residents, and visitors. It is intended to encourage artists and other creatives to work and live in Ogden, create new opportunities for the community to engage with the arts, and develop a vibrant connection between Downtown and East Central.

The Nine Rails Creative District is housed within the Central Business District and East Central Community planning areas. The proposed district also overlaps with three historic districts.

This plan was considered by the Planning Commission on April 4, 2018, who has recommended approval with a few minor adjustments. The Council had in-depth discussions regarding the proposal over two work session meetings, and has incorporated further clarifying changes.

A copy of the proposed plan that is being considered is available online (click here).
