The Ogden City Council has adopted the Fiscal Year 2019 Tentative Budget and will take action on the final budget on August 7th.
The Council encourages the public to provide feedback on the budget at the public hearings scheduled during the June 26th, July 10th, and August 7th City Council meetings. Prior to the July 10th meeting, the Council will host a Facebook Live Event at 5pm to answer questions about the budget from citizens. In addition to adopting a tentative budget, the Council also determined it will consider the Mayor’s proposal to adopt the same property tax rate as the last fiscal year. If the Council adopts the current rate, it will mean an increase of city property tax revenues by 8.92 percent, which translates to an increase of about $27 per year for the average household.
The budget is focused on providing competitive employee wages through compensation step and cost of living adjustments for public safety employees, as well as upgraded facilities and equipment, including renovations of Fire Station Four, and bulletproof vests for the Police Department.
The Council’s budget priorities are promoting active and healthy living, fostering neighborhoods and building community, developing multi-mode transportation options, enhancing community outreach and engagement, cultivating arts and culture, supporting public safety and other essential services, and ensuring fiscal sustainability and transparency.
Council members, acting as Redevelopment Agency (RDA) board members and Municipal Building Authority (MBA) trustees, have also adopted the FY2018 RDA Budget and FY2018 MBA Budget.
