The Ogden City Fire Department welcomed four new firefighters to its department with a ceremony on Tuesday, November 28, 2017.
Stephen Hjerstedt, Skyler Nelson, Tyler Ottesen, and Christian Thomas were sworn in as firefighters during the brief ceremony that was attended by their families. Ogden City Firefighters, Ogden City Police Officers, Mayor Mike Caldwell and Ogden City Council members were also present to show their support for the new firefighters’ upcoming careers of service.
Mayor Caldwell welcomed the firefighters to the City while sharing that Ogden firefighters are the best due to their commitment to excellence and their status as some of the most experienced firefighters in Weber County.
Fire Chief Mathieu also spoke at the ceremony, sharing the history of the Maltese cross with the new arrivals to his department. He expressed the impact that their service can have on the lives of others, and also the Department’s dedication to returning the firefighters home safely to their families.
