Breaks & Shifting
Winter months are typically the time for main breaks. The ground shifts causing the mains to split. Companies that make asphalt usually stop selling it around Thanksgiving time due to the cold. They start their plants back up around April.
Repairs
After a main break our crews refill the job site with gravel. This job site is placed on a work order list for asphalt. Over the winter months this list grows. Once the asphalt plants start to make asphalt our crews split their time between repairing new leaks and asphalting these graveled holes.
Monitoring
Please be assured these graveled holes are monitored. If they settle or become low we top them off. If you are aware of a low graveled hole, please call our shops so that we can take care of the problem.
